This is the rock album release of 2003 by a country mile. This collection of songs stands head and shoulders above anything else during that twelve months.
The short way of describing this album is, “Arthur Brown sings Halloween hits.” But there is so much more to this glorious romp, so much fun. There is also a fine selection of cover songs—nothing obvious, but delving back into the ’50s and ’60s.
Slade’s concerts always turned into fun loving riots and in this box set are five prime examples of ‘There’s A Riot Goin’ On.’ These recordings are a wonderful way to relive this golden era.
The Theory Of Molecular Inheritance is a concept album, as is the wont of progressive rock, so best played from start to finish, all 62 minutes of it. Steve has put together a magnificent band with members who know each other well. If you enjoy the music on these CDs, you should head straight out and get the DVD too, so you can have complete fulfilment of the senses. The only better way is to actually go to a concert.

This little beauty “Animals” was originally released in 1977—a dark, brooding album with words from Roger Waters condemning the occupants of the planet for their lack of ability to think for themselves. Now we have a stunning new version freshly remixed by the band.
The whole album is a thing of great beauty, sumptuous in both melody and rhythm. It’s the album we all need coming, as it does in yet another tumultuous time in the history of human beings.
